The first factor that spring to mind is how stressed our relationships with loved ones can be. And as several of us have discovered, discovering a shared disconnect from conflicts on any given day tends to provide us with less frustration. As a result, we feel better and our blood pressure becomes lower. But perhaps the most substantial win here is when the couple can attempt something collectively, like a Nuru massage. The massage itself is an intimate process. The couple takes a shower or a hot bath. Then one person lathers him/herself with the Nuru Gel. Afterwards, he/or she lathers his/her partner with it. Then they slide together. It?s sensual, fun, relaxing and is a sure way to keep the relationship alive. The ability topermit two physiques slide with each other as if they were somehow joined, is among the most healthiest rewards Nuru massage has to offer you.

Baseball Or Softball Outfield Drill Around The World}

Baseball or Softball Outfield Drill – Around the World

by

Jim Moyer

The Around the World drill can be run using two different methods. The first method is much more controlled and accurate by utilizing a pitching machine to shoot the fly balls. Utilizing the pitching machine to shoot fly balls ensures the accuracy of the fly ball as opposed to mis-hits by the coach. Using this approach guarantees that you can obtain maximum running distance for the player.

The field set up for this drill is to locate the pitching machine around home plate. Loosen the bottom bolt on a jugs pitching machine so that the machine will freely rotate from foul line to foul line.

Position a player at second base to act as the cut-off point for the return throws of the outfielders. Be sure to have an empty bucket at second base to collect all of the balls. As the bucket gets full, the player can run the bucket back to the coach at the pitching machine. This will prevent delays during the drill and keep a continuous flow to the practice.

YouTube Preview Image

Position the rest of your players in the outfield on the foul line. One player will complete this outfield drill before the next player begins. The object of this drill is to have a player catch four or five fly balls as they run from one foul line to the other. How many fly balls they can catch will depend on their age and speed.

Begin by shooting a fly ball to the outfielder on the left field foul line. After he catches the ball and throws it to second base, the coach should immediately shoot another fly ball towards the left center field. The player, as soon as they have thrown the ball back to second base, should immediately begin running towards center field to be in position to make the next catch. This process then continues until the fielder has reached the right field foul line. The player, having just completed the drill, will then proceed to second base to be the new cut-off person and the previous cut-off person will then get in line to run the drill.

An alternative to this method is to use two coaches to hit the fly balls. Have one coach hit to left field and left center. Have the other coach hit to right center and right field. Running the drill in this manner keeps two players participating rather than just one. It also teaches the player to read the ball coming off of the bat. It also requires that you have two players around second base to act as the cut-offs. Its best to position one of the cut-offs at the shortstop position and the other at the second base position so that errant throws dont become a safety issue.

I generally prefer using the pitching machine method to run this drill. If a team is only able to practice catching fly balls once or twice a week, then I believe the volume provided by the pitching machine is priceless. However, it a team is able to practice fly balls on a daily basis, then I would suggest hitting the balls instead. First, if the coach hits fly balls every day, he will become proficient at placing the ball. Second, the player learning to read the ball off of the bat is an important skill development.

Depending on the skill level of your ballplayers will determine how far apart you shoot the balls and how much time they have to get from one position to the next. This is an excellent drill for players 10 years old and older. If the player is just developing his fly ball skill, the machine can be set to throw lower fly balls and the drill can be run around the infield.

At the 12U and above level, this drill can be used to teach your players to really stretch their coverage area. The idea is to get them to see a fly ball that may be fifty feet away, but start running to it because they believe they can get there and make the out.

Oil company BP to pay for Gulf of Mexico spill

Monday, May 3, 2010

The British oil company BP has said it will pay the cleanup costs from a severe oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

In a statement on its website posted earlier today, BP pledged to take responsibility for cleaning up after the Deepwater Horizon oil well ruptured, adding it would pay what it called “legitimate and objectively verifiable” compensation for claims of damage or injury.

“We are responsible, not for the accident, but we are responsible for the oil and for dealing with it and cleaning the situation up,” said BP chief executive Tony Hayward on the TV show Good Morning America, claiming the company was not at fault for the collapse of the oil rig itself, whose equipment was provided by another company, Transocean.

Transocean spokesman Guy Cantwell responded by saying: “We will await all the facts before drawing conclusions and we will not speculate.”

The Deepwater Horizon exploded on April 20 and killed eleven workers. The cause of the disaster is not known.

Airbus A380 safety test injures 33

Monday, March 27, 2006

Thirty-three people were injured during a test of the Airbus A380, a double decker superjumbo jet, in Hamburg, Germany. Injuries include friction burns from sliding down the escape ramps and one broken leg. 853 volunteer “passengers” and 20 crew members took about 80 seconds to evacuate the aircraft, beating the test’s requirements by 10 seconds and over 200 people “rescued”. Only eight of the plane’s sixteen exits were used, as required by the test; the crew members were not told in advance which doors would open. The test was carried out in a dark hangar and the plane’s aisles were littered with debris to simulate actual emergency conditions.

The A380 will be the world’s largest passenger airliner, almost twice as large as the current largest airliner, the Boeing 747. Airbus has had 159 planes on order by 16 customers, and the first A380s will go to Singapore Airlines towards the end of the year.

This test was important to Airbus, as in August 2005 an Airbus A340 overshot the runway and 300 people escaped before the plane burst into flames. Infrared camera recordings of the test will be analyzed by authorities such as the European Aviation Safety Agency, while the US Federal Aviation Administration was present during the test. The European Aviation Safety Agency will confirm the test results this week; Airbus intends to repeat the test on Saturday if the aviation agency fails this attempt.

The volunteers, who were paid 60 euros (about US$72) and a meal, were from Airbus staff, sports clubs, and dancing clubs in the Hamburg area where the test took place. Airbus recruited people from clubs in order to get volunteers in good physical shape.

Two days later, the American and European aviation authorities (the FAA and EASA, respectively) officially certified the A380 to carry 853 passengers. This certification demonstrated that the test procedures use by Airbus met their respective standards.

Spurt In Global Oil M&Amp;A Deals}

Submitted by: M&A Critique

Oil and gas companies across the world, and especially in the US, inked a series of new mergers and acquisitions (M&As) last year after one year of moribund deal activities in 2015. As crude oil prices stabilized in a range between $40 and $55 a barrel, companies in the United States and other parts of the world took the opportunity to do upstream oil and gas acquisitions at cheaper valuations. The oil-rich Permian region in Texas (USA) witnessed a spate of M&A activities as the oil and gas industry has been quick to adapt and secure primary drilling sites and buy existing production facilities.

In 2016, a record 385 deals were made in US oil and gas business for a total value of $69 billion, as compared with $32 billion in 285 deals in 2015. The Permian region alone saw deals worth $27 billion, of which deals worth $9 billion were in the Midland sub-basin and $18 billion in the Delaware sub-basin. The other regions which saw oil deals were Marcellus, where there were deals worth $6.7 billion and Oklahoma, with $5.1 billion worth of M&A deal. The largest transaction was merger of two publicly traded E&Ps Range Resources $4.4 billion purchase of Memorial Resource Development. Buyers were looking to increase positions in premium resource business and sellers sought to monetized previous investments as implied value moved up after a long lull in M&A activities.

Global M&A deals

Apart from the US, even other countries witnessed series of oil deals. M&A deals in Russia made headlines as oil assets were available for cheap there too. The $11 billion acquisition of a 19.5% stake in Rosneft by Glencore and Qatar Investments was one of the biggest oil deals in Russia. Canada M&A activity accounted for another 415.6 billion, topped by Suncors $4.5 billion acquisition of Canadian Oil Sands.

Other notable global oil M&A deals were Statoils $2.5 billion acquisition of 66% interest in Carcara discovery from Petrobras, ExxonMobils $2.5 billion offer for InterOil, Rosnefts $1.58 billion acquisition of 30% interest in Zohr field from Eni, KazMunayGas for $1.22 billion and BP divesting Norwegian subsidiary to Aker and Det Norske for $1.15 billion. In 2016, the total global midstream M&A transactions were worth $145.7 billion, the second highest in the last six years. Even downstream global oil deals remained steady. The largest transactions were the Rosneft/Trafigura-led consortiums $12.9 billion acquisition of 98% of Essar Oil, Macquarie-led consortium acquiring 61% stake in UK gas distribution business from National Grid for $10.64 billion, and Tesoros $6.4 billion purchase of Western Refining. Even in 2015 oil companies were doing mergers like Shell acquired BG for $82 billion, which propelled the global M&A to $116 billion.

Even this year looks promising, as oil prices are still lower than the 10-year average price, which makes acquiring drilling sites much cheaper. Companies are expecting that oil prices will rise in the near future as OPEC countries cut production. Rise in oil prices will help companies to reap gains from the drilling acquisitions done now.

Gas deals in the US

As the US is turning out to be a large exporter of gas, companies are looking to acquire gas sites and production units closer to the Gulf Coast and spur up activities in regions like Haynesville, Barnett and the gas window of the Eagle Ford. Buyers in the US are of the opinion that there will be oil and gas supply shortfall at the end of the decade and whenever assets are cheap, it is better to snap them up.

The recovery in oil prices to $45 per barrel during last year summer had triggered a surge of acquisitions. In the US, deal data by region clearly point out that the recovery last year had been driven by some regions and some in particular like the Permian Basin in western Texas. The Permian is prized for its low-breakeven cost of producing a barrel of oil, leading to a gold rush of sorts which had sent the acreage of oil prices soaring there. The recovery in the US oil deal making was also driven by sales of underdeveloped acreage as opposed to reserves that are already producing. Interestingly, drillers were able to cut capital spending in areas where production was not that economical.

There were deals done in other regions apart from Permian and Marcellus as buyers added land to their existing acreage. More such purchases are likely to happen as companies have a lot of cash in hand. Banks that had lent to the energy sector in the past are still hesitant to lend despite the recovery in oil prices.

Going forward, deal making in the US will expand beyond the white-hot Permian to other prime oil resources including the Eagle Ford and Bakken. In gas, with LNG exports from the US increasing, deals are likely to take place in the Gulf Coast.

Oil deals in the Gulf

Keeping the trend of oil M&A deals, Saudi Arabia had bought oil portfolios of American energy assets last year. The state-owned Saudi Aramco is the co-owner with Royal Dutch Shell of Motiva, the largest US refinery. In a deal signed in April last year, Aramco will take full control of Motivas assets in a years time. Saudi Arabia is not the only country with energy assets in the US and close energy ally, the countrys aggressive oil deals in the US is an indication that the Saudi Arabia is expanding its reach in the US for oil. In fact, the US laws allow foreign companies to invest in and purchase US oil assets such as refineries and plants.

Reason for spurt in oil deals

Deal making had hit come to a halt in 2015 after the oil bust as banks tightened lending to distressed drillers and buyers and sellers were cautious of the valuation. However, in 2016 oil prices started to gradually move upwards and companies saw potential in prices going up. In fact, 2016 was year when oil prices started rising on strong economic fundamentals, especially the rise in prices of non-agriculture commodities. So, rising crude prices and easing capital markets have pushed up M&A deals in the oil and gas industry. In 2016, oil deals took place in midstream pipeline and storage sector and downstream refining and marketing space. The real recovery in deal-making was led by upstream exploration and production sector, which is into the core activity of finding oil and gas.Deal making was also made possible in large number because the gap had narrowed between what buyers were willing to pay and how much sellers were willing to accept. Moreover, sellers needed cash to pay down debt as private equity firms that bought energy assets had reached the end of their holding periods and looked to divest them.

Future outlook

The year 2017 will also be a promising year for oil M&As. Oil prices account for much of the volatility in M&A deals. When oil prices touched $100 a barrel in 2014, oil M&A deals virtually stopped in 2014 and 2015. Now, two years after OPECs attack on oil prices began, both OPEC and non-OPEC countries agreed to cut production beginning January 1, 2017. That is expected to boost oil prices to a reasonable level. One of the most critical components to a healthy deal market is stability in oil prices. The global oil industry has deleveraged and pared debt in the last two years through a host of asset sales. If US President Donald Trump comes out with friendlier regulations, it will help increase oil and gas production in the US. So, as oil prices recover deal markets will provide a significant growth platform for those buyers who were not able to capitalize on last years opportunities.

IMF: World on brink of recession; prepares special loan program

Thursday, October 9, 2008

The head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) says the world is on the brink of a global recession but predicts the economy will begin to recover by late 2009.

Dominique Strauss-Kahn, Managing Director of the IMF, stressed nations must work together to avert a global recession and warns there is “no domestic solution” to the crisis. He also said this week’s coordinated interest rate cuts around the world are a good example of the international cooperation needed to restore faltering economies.

Furthermore, he announced the IMF has activated an emergency program Wednesday that allows the fund to provide loans more easily and quickly to emerging countries in economic trouble. This program was first used during the 1997 Asian crisis.

The program might be used in Iceland, which has seen major problems hitting the financial sector. Iceland has been forced to nationalize the three largest banks and, most recently, Kaupthing Bank.

The IMF chief made these remarks in Washington D.C. on Thursday, as top officials from IMF nations and the G-7 industrialized countries are gathering for meetings on economic issues. U.S. President George Bush is set to meet with G-7 finance ministers at the White House on Saturday.

G8 finance ministers agree on deal to relieve debts of 18 poorest nations

Saturday, June 11, 2005

The finance ministers of the G8, the world’s eight richest countries, after years of pressure from wide coalitions of human rights campaigners, such as the Committee for the abolition of third world debt (CADTM), have agreed to a deal to relieve the debts of 18 of the poorest countries in the world, but have not yet published the full details.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Bank (WB), and the African Development Fund will write off all of the money owed to them by the selected countries. However, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Asian Development Bank (AsDB) will not cancel debts owed to them by heavily indebted poor countries (HIPCs) such as Bolivia, Nicaragua, Honduras, Guyana, Vietnam, and Laos.

The countries to receive debt cancellation from the IMF, WB and the African Development Fund are Benin, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guyana, Honduras, Madagascar, Mali, Mauritania, Mozambique, Nicaragua, Niger, Rwanda, Senegal, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia.

The deal, devised by the United Kingdom, could potentially free up government revenue for domestic spending on things such as education and health services.

The World Bank, the International Monetary Fund and the African Development Fund will write off all of the money owed to them by the above listed nations. A total of $40bn will be cleared, which will save debt repayments of $1.5bn a year.

CADTM argues that this is a negligible effort by the rich countries, since $1.5bn a year is extremely small compared to the $350bn the G8 devote to farming subsidies or the $700bn they spend in military expenditure each year. Moreover, these 18 countries only represent about 5% of the population of developing countries.

Another twenty countries may become eligible to have their debts cleared if they meet criteria decided by G8 finance ministries.

According to G8 representatives, the main criteria are the reduction of corruption and better government. According to critics, such as the CADTM, the criteria include the privatisation of natural resources and of strategic economic sectors to the benefit of transnational corporations, higher costs of health care and education through privatisation, a rise in VAT, free flow of capital, which leads to capital leaving the country as shown by several UNCTAD reports, lower tariff protection, which leads to thousands of small and middle producers losing their livelihoods because they cannot compete with imported goods.

The CADTM claims that the G8 agreement can solve neither the issue of the debt nor the issue of poverty since it bears on only 2% of the external debt of developing countries and demand an immediate and complete cancellation of the public external debt of all developing countries, the burden of the debt being a major obstacle to meeting fundamental human needs.

Other groups, including charities, have similarly stated that the debts of 62 countries need to be cleared if the UN wants to meet its target of halving world poverty.

Fourteen of the countries to receive debt relief are in sub-Saharan Africa.

The alleviation of third world debt has been a lifelong ambition of Gordon Brown, the current UK chancellor, and he has used all of his political power and status to push for this agreement in the G8 group.
