At the royal court of the Mughal Emperors of northern India, a single graceful, flowering-plant motif appeared and became a hallmark of Mughal art, architecture, and textile design. In the Himalayan region of Kashmir, this design was used to embellish cashmere mantles and sashes woven for officials of the Mughal court.
